Manchester United are now the bookies’ favourites to sign Burnley’s Michael Keane, reports the Independent.
In true Pogba-esque fashion, the defender could be on his way back for a second stint at Old Trafford.
The Clarets will be desperate to keep the 23-year-old, whose form is one of the main reasons they are one of the season’s surprise packages, sitting in ninth place.
Yet, one of his more industrious performances may also have proved counter-productive for his current club.
Keane caught the eye in the recent 0-0 draw with United at the Theatre of Dreams, and it was he and goalkeeper Tom Heaton who were largely responsible for Burnley keeping a clean sheet despite being hugely up against it for most of the game.
Liverpool and Chelsea are also being linked with the soon-to-be England international, as they both need reinforcements at the back too. Chelsea, in particular, need more homegrown players in order to fulfil their quota, but United seems a more natural fit for him.
Keane left the club in 2011.
