Liverpool star could join Adam Lallana on the sidelines vs Southampton

Philippe Coutinho would ordinarily look like good money to score first at 6/1 against Southampton.

The Liverpool star has been in prolific form for Brazil over the international break, scoring an absolute wonder goal in the win over Uruguay.

However, the Sun report that Jurgen Klopp is sweating over the playmaker’s fitness and is awaiting the results of a scan.

That’s always going to be bad news for Reds fans, but it’s been compounded by the injury Adam Lallana picked up while playing in a friendly for England vs Spain on Tuesday night.

Lallana opened the scoring from the penalty spot but was subbed off shortly afterwards with a groin injury.

It leaves Klopp worryingly short against Southampton, who are notoriously difficult to break down. Liverpool won’t want to lose their grip at the top of the table with Chelsea and Arsenal breathing down their necks, but it’s going to be difficult without two of their key attackers.

It’s likely to give Daniel Sturridge another chance to impress, and he’ll at least be full of confidence after his goal against Scotland.
