Morgan Schneiderlin’s nightmare spell at Manchester United could be drawing to a close, reports the Sun.
The midfielder has failed to force his way into Jose Mourinho’s plans and the Special One is now ready to let him leave.
The Red Devils fought off interest from Tottenham, Arsenal, and Chelsea to sign him for £24million just over a year ago, but it’s fair to say things have not worked out at Old Trafford for the Frenchman.
Injuries have played their part, but the 26-year-old has also seen his chances restricted by Mourinho, playing just four games in all competitions this season – including just five minutes in the Premier League.
Contrast that to last season when he featured 30 times under Louis van Gaal, and it’s easy to see why the former Southampton man wants to seek pastures new.
As for Mourinho, he has plenty of options in central midfield, and it’s telling that all the clamour from the fans is aimed at seeing more of an ageing Michael Carrick, not Schneiderlin.
