Chelsea’s proposed move for Thorgan Hazard suffers a setback

Borussia Monchengladbach star Thorgan Hazard is being targeted by Antonio Conte, but the Bundesliga outfit insist they are not aware of any buy-back clause in his contract.

Of course, the 23-year-old was sold by Chelsea a year ago after a successful loan spell in Germany, but it appears they’ve now had a change of heart having seen his progression.

The Blues claimed at the time, via their official website, that they did have a buy-back option, serving to fuel speculation a deal could happen.

Gladbach sporting director has put them right on that, insisting, as per ESPN: “There is no buy-back clause.”

Hazard has scored 18 times for his new club, but he would have to fight his way out of his older brother’s shadow if he were to move to Stamford Bridge.

Eden’s revival this season has seen him re-emerge as Chelsea’s main man in attack, but it would certainly be interesting to see how the pair link up if it does happen.
