Chelsea face tough competition for James Rodriguez

It’s quite remarkable that James Rodriguez is still at Real Madrid.

Almost since he arrived two years ago, rumours have circulated that the Colombian has been unhappy at the Bernabeu, and Zinedine Zidane’s appointment in January doesn’t seem to have helped matters.

Chelsea were linked with the Los Blancos star in the summer, but a move never materialised. They could resurrect that interest in January after the 25-year-old publicly admitted he wasn’t playing enough – he’s made just four league appearances this season – but they’ll face some pretty stiff competition.

Italian publication Corriere dello Sport have suggested that Rodriguez could be headed for Serie A champions Juventus, who are also set to bring in talented Belgian midfielder Axel Witsel in the near future.

Incidentally, the same report also indicates that struggling West Ham misfit Zaza could be loaned to Napoli, but it’s the Rodriguez rumour that will have Premier League fans really excited.

Massimiliano Allegri is apparently a big fan of Rodriguez, so it makes sense that Juve may as well sound him out, as it just doesn’t look like things are going to improve for him in the Spanish capital.
