Arsenal fans should be worried by history of poor shows at Old Trafford

On paper, Arsenal should be massive favourites for Saturday’s game against Manchester United.

The Gunners are unbeaten since the opening day of the season, whereas the Red Devils are never more than a couple of bad results away from a crisis.

Jose Mourinho will be desperate to get one over on his old rival Arsene Wenger, not least to prove that it is not he who is the ‘specialist in failure’ after all.

At the very least, the Special One should be buoyed by one stat that sums up Arsenal’s woes at Old Trafford.

Despite United’s problems in the last three years, it’s now been a decade since Arsenal have won at their stadium.

The last time that happened, Wenger’s side grabbed a 1-0 win courtesy of an 85th minute winner from Emmanuel Adebayor – he’s been at Manchester City, Real Madrid, Tottenham, and Crystal Palace since then, so that just demonstrates how long it’s been.

With SkyBet, Arsenal are 19/10 to walk away with all three points, but a record like that isn’t going to make fans too confident.

Last season’s game will forever go down as the moment Marcus Rashford burst onto the scene, and with Zlatan Ibrahimovic missing through suspension, there’s every chance he could be the decider again.
