2 games on Tuesday night with teams from England, France, Germany and Spain involved….
Manchester City vs Monaco
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are probably English football’s last realistic hope of European glory this year. With Arsenal all but out and Leicester facing a tricky test against Sevilla on Wednesday, City going into their last-16 draw with Monaco as slight favourites at 3/5.
Leonardo Jardim’s side shouldn’t be underestimated, though, as their group opponents Tottenham can vouch for. Nonetheless, the Ligue 1 leaders only kept one clean sheet in the groups, and conceded three against Bayer Leverkusen. That means there should be goals in this one, as City’s defence isn’t exactly bulletproof. The Huddersfield defence may have been too much for Sergio Aguero to get past, but he’s 3/1 to score first here.
Kelechi Iheanacho’s only 7/2, but even with Gabriel Jesus now out, it’s questionable whether to back the Nigerian as it’s just not been his season.
Bayer Leverkusen vs Atletico Madrid
One man who is worth backing is Kévin Gameiro after his hat-trick for Atleti against Sporting Gijon. The forward has only scored once in the Champions League this season, but most of his appearances have been from the bench. He’s at 35/1 to score with the La Liga side to win 2-0.
It’s difficult to know which Atletico will turn up given their inconsistent form, but they’ve shown signs that they can repeat last year’s exploits and go all the way to the final. Diego Simeone’s men are at 6/1 to win against Leverkusen by exactly two goals, and their attack is looking pretty deadly again.
