England have called up uncapped duo Liam Dawson and Keaton Jennings for the fourth Test in India, reports the BBC.
The pair will replace Haseeb Hameed, who has a broken finger, and Zafar Ansari, whose back injury may have been the reason for his intermittent form.
The changes don’t seem to have done England’s odds many favours, as India are still 4/9 favourites. For the visitors to now even salvage a draw from the series is at 25/1, so that sums up how difficult it’s going to be for them to get a positive result.
It’s unclear where Jennings will come in in the batting order, as England’s original line-up is now missing Ben Duckett and Hameed.
Dawson, as an all-rounder, should be able to add some depth further down the order to prevent any more of their famous batting collapses.
The fourth Test starts on 8 December, with Alastair Cook’s men already 2-0 down in the series.
