Aguero’s ban means he’ll miss one of City’s biggest games of the season

Sergio Aguero let Manchester City down badly with his horror tackle on David Luiz on Saturday.

The Argentinian was sent off for the awful lunge and will now serve a four-game ban.

That’s higher than the usual three-game suspension for violent conduct because it’s the second time he’s done it this season, the first being when he elbowed West Ham’s Winston Reid.

The striker clearly let his frustration get the better of him as he’d been marked out of the game by Luiz, but he will now miss the crucial fixture with Arsenal later this month.

Amid the busiest time of the season, Aguero simply couldn’t have picked a worst time to get himself banned.

In their current form, you’d have to question whether City would beat Arsenal anyway, but the odds have to be even higher now.

The Gunners, on the other hand, look in superb nick, an Alexis Sanchez masterclass helping them to a well-deserved 5-1 victory over a poor West Ham side.

The odds aren’t up yet for the clash at the Etihad on December 18, but Pep Guardiola’s side are going to have to seriously raise their game if they’re to beat their title rivals, and they’ll have to do it without their main man.
