All three selections were second on Friday. Lady Aurelia ran them into the ground but was caught on the line by the only challenger. I do not think she was fully aware of what was happening and will be better for the experience. She is a superstar and to see a young filly take on the older males like that is great. She will be back next year, probably at Royal Ascot first. Tivoli was backed into odds-on from the early 3.00, but was given too much to do and the leader had an easy time. It was similar for Really Super, who ran on late but had too much to do. Really Super actually looks like another step up in distance would be beneficial.
Monday 28th August
It has been mostly dry in recent days so the ground is turning back to the fast side of good quite quickly. Epsom, Chepstow and Ripon today on the flat are the best meetings to look at.
The 4.20 at Epsom is a conditions race where Mount Logan wears cheekpieces for the first time. That will probably help a little with his head carriage, and he is already the highest rated horse in this contest. He is just short of Group class and this is much easier, plus the ground and distance will suit him more than some of the others. Ten furlongs looks like his distance and I think he will grind out a victory.
