A 40/1 shot on Monaco v Spurs

Published by on November 22, 2016

Tottenham are pinning their hopes of remaining in the Champions League on beating Monaco tonight.

Having played so well to get into the competition, Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be desperately disappointed to crash out so early, but they can’t afford any more slip-ups.

Danny Rose and Ben Davies are both missing at left-back, while Toby Alderweireld is unlikely to return, which means they will have to resort to a makeshift defence probably including Jan Vertonghen at left-back.

Pochettino may well opt for three at the back like he did against Arsenal, particularly as it will be good preparation for facing Antonio Conte’s Chelsea on Saturday.

Monaco have been the team to beat in the group, but Spurs are just 13/8 to win. It’s a bit of a stretch, but there’s also good money to be found in Harry Kane scoring first and the Lilywhites heading back to London with a 2-1 win – that’s at an impressive 40/1.

Pochettino will no doubt have one eye on this weekend’s clash with the Blues, and the league has to be a priority, so it will certainly be interesting to see how Tottenham line up for this crucial European tie.
