England can edge a step closer to the 2018 World Cup with victory over Scotland.
Games between the two rivals always have a special edge, but few will expect it to be a close encounter even if it’s set to be a fiery one.
Gareth Southgate’s side have won three games since the former under-21’s boss took over, losing one, and drawing two.
That might not be overwhelmingly positive form, but that run does include a 3-0 win over Saturday’s opponents.
Harry Kane is likely to start, especially in the absence of the injured Jamie Vardy, so the Tottenham striker has to be favourite to score first at 7/2.
Scotland will be confident of scoring, given that the hosts haven’t failed to score in any of their last 12 home games. Both teams to score is at 13/10, though even a valiant performance may not be enough to save under fire Gordon Strachan, whose men are at 19/4 to win. Even a draw is at 12/5, but all but the most fervent of the Tartan Army will be backing England.
