Liverpool’s title odds after extraordinary collapse at Bournemouth

Published by on December 6, 2016

Jurgen Klopp was in amiable mood after Liverpool’s shock collapse at Bournemouth, but he must be concerned by what he saw.

The Reds were leading 3-1 with just 14 minutes to go and ended up losing the game 4-3 as Nathan Ake smashed home the winner from close range in injury time.

Liverpool could scarcely afford to slip up with Arsenal and Chelsea both having beaten West Ham and Manchester City respectively, but it remains to be seen what effect the result will have on their title challenge.

According to the bookies, this weekend’s Premier League action has had a pretty big impact. Liverpool are now 5/1 to win it with SkyBet, while Chelsea are at 11/10.

That tells you everything you need to know about the dominance of Antonio Conte’s men, while it’s also not looking too favourably upon Liverpool.

The reality is that they can’t defend as they did against Bournemouth if they are to mount a serious challenge. Granted, it was only their second defeat of the season and we’re now 14 games in, but West Ham will go at them next week smelling blood.

It just goes to show their problems at the back run much deeper than Alberto Moreno, who was blamed for their early-season difficulties.

Klopp has already strengthened in the summer, so it’s going to take nothing but hard work on the training ground for them to overtake Chelsea as the favourites.
