Manchester City go into their encounter with Stoke City knowing a win will take them second above Tottenham.
In-form Sergio Aguero will fancy giving Mark Hughes’ men the treatment they got off Tottenham the Sunday before last, and the Potters will not be feeling confident ahead of this one.
Recommended bet: Sergio Aguero to score first and Man City to win 3-0 – 13/1
Whether City are able to keep a clean sheet largely depends on who Pep Guardiola puts between the sticks.
Willy Caballero returned to the side for the weekend’s game against Sunderland, but you never know when Claudio Bravo just might get the nod.
On the basis that it’s Caballero in goal, we’re backing ‘both teams to score – no.’
He may only be second choice – well, officially anyway – but Stoke isn’t exactly brimming with goals. They’ve managed three goals in four games, and at the same time, City’s defence is looking a lot less haphazard than it was in the early stages of the campaign.
The Sky Blues’ record against Stoke isn’t actually as impressive as you’d expect. In their last five games, they’ve won three, but lost two, including one at home.
It’s hard to see a repeat of any such heroics happening on Wednesday night.
